Share ARS with friends, family, and photographers! Let’s build a productive learning community together.
ARS Coin is a totally new way to envision your photographic labor. No more dealing with algorithms that manipulate your emotions and self-esteem. Now, the process of gaining capital/currency (in the form of digital ARS Coin) is clear and transparent:
- You earn ARS Coin by providing critiques to other users in the arsbeta.com community. You can earn additional ARS Coin by referring your friends to join, by receiving ‘Thanks’ from other users for your critiques, and by logging onto ARS on a daily basis.
- You use your ARS Coin by commissioning other photographers to give you more in-depth feedback and critique on your photos.
Future of ARS
ARS Beta version 1 was launched February 19, 2018 and since then ARS has created a community of thousands of users actively uploading photos, contributing feedback and critique to one another’s photos. ARS Beta version 2 [Press Release] was launched on September 28, 2018 with the innovative ‘critique’ function. On March 14, 2019 we launched ARS Beta version 3 [Press Release] with the ground-breaking ‘ARS Coin’ and ‘Commission Critique.’
We have big moonshoot dreams for ARS to disrupt the photo industry and social media. Help us to grow through investment, sharing the word about ARS, and reviewing ARS. Email firstname.lastname@example.org for investment and brand collaborations.
Write an honest and helpful review of ARS and we will feature it here:
While Facebook and Instagram are full of photographers trying to “game” the reach algorithms and attract as many followers as possible, the anonymous nature of ARS causes the focus to be on the photos rather than the photo makers. – Peta Pixel: ARS BETA is a Website for Constructive (and Anonymous) Photo Critiques, 2018
Unlike social media, where commenters may be biased by a desire to be nice or get followers, ARS offers no such pressure or incentives…ARS ditches the social media model, instead presenting users with “equally and randomly” distributed images to critique. – DP Review: ARS is a new online platform for honest, anonymous photo critiques, 2018
I encourage you to use ARS to develop your analytical skills in this way. Don’t just do the ‘Keep’ or ‘Ditch’ button; really look at the photo and think in detail of how it could be improved or why you like the image. You will learn a tremendous amount about what drives and inspires you as a photographer by looking at other people’s work. You will also see your prejudices and foibles too.- Cities at Dawn: It’s Time for Some Honest Feedback About Your Images, 2018 [Check out their photography blog here]
The simplicity is actually the strength of this new idea. – Daniel Mitchell: Eric Kim’s ARS
ARS might just give people back a small platform to share their work away from the billionaires’ playgrounds. And for that, I have a lot of hope. – Simeon Smith: Human Nature- Some first thoughts on ARS Beta
